Designed for Finnish manufacturer Nikari, the Akademia chair was the outcome of a residency with the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York, where we researched the woodworking legacy of the Shakers. Using only straight cylinders and formed plywood parts, it is both minimal in form and economical in its use of wood. Available also with upholstered or leather seat cushion.
